A Praise to Deathless Mandāravā: teaching with Sangye Khandro

For our February Text of the Month, we had the privilege of welcoming Sangye Khandro, who taught on Music to Delight the Ḍākinī: A Praise to Deathless Mandāravā, a spontaneous praise by Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo.

Born a princess of Zahor, Mandāravā was a fully realised wisdom ḍākinī whose teachings and activities brought tremendous benefit to beings. Often invoked in longevity rituals, she was one of the five principal consorts of Padmasambhava, with whom she accomplished the essence of long-life practice at the sacred Maratika Cave in Nepal.

This evocative praise is particularly special in that it portrays her in a semi-wrathful form, an expression of her enlightened power to liberate beings, bestow siddhis, and remove obstacles to life.
