Teachings on White Tārā with Lama Tsering Everest
For our June Text of the Month, we were delighted to welcome Lama Tsering Everest, resident lama and director of Chagdud Gonpa Odsal Ling, who offered a teaching on A Melody of Sublime, Everlasting Deathlessness: A Song to Remember the Inconceivable Secrets of Ārya Cintāmaṇicakra Tārā, by Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo.
This supplication to White Tārā in her form as the Wish-Fulfilling Wheel is structured around each word of her ten-syllable mantra. Filled with evocative metaphors and beautiful imagery, the verses evokes Tārā’s boundless virtue, protection, wisdom, compassion, and charm. Through poetic descriptions of her enlightened qualities, this text serves as a teaching on how one may supplicate her.
Born in the United States, Lama Tsering served for over eleven years as the principal translator for H.E. Chagdud Tulku Rinpoche, who recognized her as a holder of the Red Tārā lineage and authorized her to give teachings and empowerments. She is the resident lama and director of Chagdud Gonpa Odsal Ling in São Paulo. Her warm, humorous, and down-to-earth style reflected her teacher’s own directness and compassion, with a focus on mind training, cultivating compassion, and applying the Dharma in everyday life.
