Claudia Fregiehn

Claudia Fregiehn translates Buddhist texts and teachings from Tibetan into English and German and also works as an oral interpreter. After many years as a television journalist in Germany, she encountered Buddhism in 2005 and soon began translating teachings and books by Tibetan masters such as Tulku Thondup Rinpoche from English into German.

In 2016, she began studying Tibetan language and Buddhist philosophy in Nepal and India, primarily at Rangjung Yeshe Institute in Kathmandu. From 2020 to 2023, she completed an MA in Translation, Textual Interpretation, and Philology. She subsequently worked as a corrector in RYI’s Translator Training Program and assisted in teaching Classical Tibetan. Her MA thesis examined questions of authorship in a Sakya text from the Collected Works of Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo.

Claudia was also part of the first cohort to complete the Khyentse Vision Project’s Translator Training. In addition to contributing to KVP, she provides oral and written translations for Dharma groups, primarily within the Nyingma traditions of Pema Lingpa and Longchen Nyingtik, as well as for other lineages. She also holds a Diploma in Translation from the Chartered Institute of Linguists (London) and a degree in Political Science from the University of Hamburg.
