A Brief Liberation Account of the Omniscient Guru

In March, we celebrate the anniversary of Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo, whose extraordinary legacy is the founding inspiration for our project. To mark this occasion, our text of the month is A Brief Liberation Account of the Omniscient Guru, the Great Vajradhara Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo.
Jamgön Kongtrul Lodrö Tayé composed these verses in honor of his close friend and collaborator, offering a poetic tribute to Khyentse Wangpo’s life, accomplishments, and enduring legacy across traditions.
Moving through each lineage, Kongtrul highlights the teachings Khyentse Wangpo received, the practices he mastered, and his role in preserving and transmitting these traditions—from Buddhism to Bön. The text also emphasizes his treasure revelations and his way of relating to all philosophical traditions, embodying the Rimé spirit of openness and honoring the authenticity of diverse lineages.
Text of the Month teaching with Do Tulku Rinpoche
For our Text of the Month teaching in March, we welcomed Do Tulku Rinpoche, who talked about the life and legacy of Khyentse Wangpo and his extraordinary collaboration with Jamgön Kongtrul and Chokgyur Lingpa.
Through his commentary on this text, Rinpoche offered a contemplative exploration of Khyentse Wangpo’s extraordinary qualities, his vast mastery across the major Tibetan Buddhist traditions, and his role as a unifying presence in nineteenth-century Tibet. He also reflected on his remarkable qualities, including a lifelong connection with Guru Rinpoche from early childhood, deep devotion and renunciation, and an openness that allowed him to receive teachings in extraordinary ways.
Do Tulku Rinpoche is the resident lama and spiritual guide of Arya Tara’s Net in Germany. As one of KVP’s in-house translators and a traditional expert scholar, Rinpoche gives invaluable advice and support to our translation and editorial team, and is renowned for the clarity, warmth, and humor with which he teaches.
Tutorial with Ryan Jacobson and editor Alex Gardner
The tutorial on A Brief Liberation Account of the Omniscient Guru has been temporarily postponed due to a schedule conflict. We will share a new date soon.
In the meantime, we’re glad to share a short teaser for the session. In this video, Alex Gardner recounts a vivid episode from Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo’s life, as depicted in a nineteenth-century painting preserved at Dzongsar Monastery. The painting depicts the opening of the treasure site Rongme Karmo Taktsang in 1866, when Khyentse Wangpo and the great tertön Chokgyur Lingpa revealed profound treasures and consecrated the site, which later became an important place of retreat for generations of practitioners.
