Words of a Young Sage

Words of a Young Sage: A Vajra Song of Disillusionment with My Own and Other People’s Behavior is a song of spiritual realization that acts as a message of encouragement to renounce the world and embrace solitude. Although Khyentse Wangpo composed these verses in the form of an admonishment to himself, by pointing out the pitfalls of the spiritual path, his candid yet heartfelt advice is relevant to all practitioners in these degenerate times. Khyentse Wangpo spurs us to expose our hidden faults, and to free ourselves from entanglement with worldly life and ordinary concerns, embracing authentic Dharma practice in solitude.

Words of a Young Sage: Text of the Month teaching with Jigme Khyentse Rinpoche

In February, 2025, KVP’s principal advisor Jigme Khyentse Rinpoche offered an intimate teaching on a text called “Words of a Young Sage: A Vajra Song of Disillusionment with My Own and Other People’s Behavior,” composed by Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo. This song of spiritual realization spurs practitioners to free themselves from the pitfalls of worldly life, to expose their hidden faults, and to fully embrace Dharma practice in solitude. Although Khyentse Wangpo composed these verses in the form of an admonishment to himself, by pointing out the pitfalls of the spiritual path, his candid yet heartfelt advice is still relevant to all practitioners in these degenerate times.
