David Scheuneman

Systems Administrator
David is a systems engineer, information technologist, and theologian. Dave is our systems administrator and original architect—responsible for designing, building, and maintaining our cloud-computing infrastructure. He brings to his role an array of skills acquired through decades of computer science work and contemplative spirituality.

David found his way to the Khyentse Vision Project through a kindred project, 84000: Translating the Words of the Buddha, where he helped administer the translation database and publishing tools. Having become familiar with 84000’s ways of supporting a global team of translators and editors, it was a natural move to help Khyentse Vision Project do the same. Since the 1990s, he has had a dual career in information technology and religion. In addition to training and certifications in computer science, he has a master’s degree in theology, specializing in contemplative spirituality and ministry. He has been a Dharma student for thirty years, practicing Mahāmudrā, Dzogchen, Zen, and other meditation traditions.

When he’s not working on his cloud-computing duties, David can be found in the “cloud of unknowing,” meditating and teaching. Headquartered in Las Vegas, he is often away, living part-time in Berlin, or leading interfaith meditation gatherings at churches and retreat centers.
